Athletics LAUSD Policies

 
LAUSD athletic policies, including those for coaches and student-athletes, are governed by LAUSD, CIF (California Interscholastic Federation), and the National Federation of High School Associations, emphasizing academic and athletic equity, safety, and fair play. 
 
Coaches:
  • Adherence to Rules:
    Athletic coaches must adhere to LAUSD, CIF, and National Federation of High School Associations policies and rules. 
     
  • Out-of-Season Activities:
    Coaches can associate with students out of season as private citizens, but not as school employees, and cannot use school resources for out-of-season activities. 
     
  • Code of Conduct:
    Coaches are expected to uphold a code of conduct that emphasizes integrity, fair play, and the well-being of student-athletes. 
     
  • Qualifications:
    All coaches, paid or volunteer, must meet the requirements to qualify for a coaching position by the first day of the sport season. 
     
  • Out-of-Season Activities:
    Coaches need permits and insurance for use of school property when not in season, and out-of-season activities are not sanctioned by the school or the District. 
     
  • No Sundays or District Shutdown Days:
    There shall be no direct organized, supervised team meetings, or practice sessions on Sundays or during District shutdown days.
